Cheltenham Wellbeing Festival

Ready for some late summer wellness? It's the perfect time to look after yourself with this inspirational festival, with loads of wellbeing events, fitness clinics, even A Monk's Guide to Happiness!

It’s September, the end of a looooooong summer holiday and for me, time for a reboot. Health, life, fitness, wellbeing…it’s the perfect chance to think about how you’d like to focus on wellness for the autumn and beyond. What do I need? Cheltenham’s first ever wellbeing festival, of course! Fancy a talk on how to find your inner joy? A pop up supper club? Want to try a new fitness class? It’s all here, seven days superboosting your motivational mojo. Here’s to a happy autumn, because frankly, we’re worth it.

The Cheltenham Wellbeing Festival bursts into town this 9th – 15th September 2019, a week-long celebration of wellbeing which aims to help local people live life well. Fantastic, we say! The team behind this oh-so-brilliant idea have partnered with over fifty local businesses to bring together a community of experts, giving you the chance to access a wide variety of fitness classes, health and wellbeing services, plus talks from leading experts and a host of workshops and events that will inspire, educate and entertain.

Quite frankly, we hear of worrying statistics every day around health, depression and physical activity across the UK, showing the increasing need to provide credible information, events, support and access to the resources we need to look after our own wellbeing. And, whether it’s trying a new fitness class, finding an activity group, seeking support on a health issue, achieving more balance, or to simply indulge, the Cheltenham Wellbeing Festival opens the doors to explore every area of health and wellness in a fun, approachable and immersive way. Oh, and it’s also a fab opportunity to celebrate our local wellbeing champions and those charities and social enterprises working hard in their own specific areas of wellbeing.

Ready to find out more? Split across four sections, the Festival will explore all pillars of wellbeing, from fitness, nutritional, mindfulness, mental health, self-Identity, relationships and lifestyle, to people, places and the environment in which we live. Want to try a new form of exercise? With the festival’s Active Pass you can choose from yoga, Pilates, Barre, climbing, martial arts, CrossFit, HIIT, spinning, running, swimming, tennis and much more. Whether you’re looking to push yourself to new limits, stretch and tone, or move your body in different ways, they have partnered with over 25 fitness clubs, private trainers and studios across Cheltenham who will open sessions for you to try across the week. Fancy just chillaxing? Book a pampering or grooming session with the Festival’s Treatment Pass.

Once you’re fully preened, groomed and pampered, sit back, relax and hear all the latest trends and opinions from some of the UK’s leading wellbeing experts in a range of talks and seminars, interactive workshops and events. Choose from ‘Live 101’ with Dr Dawn Harper, ‘Too Many Pills’ with Dr James Le Fanu, ‘The Science of Self-Healing’ with Dr Jeremy Howick, and ‘The Mask of Masculinity’ with Ben Bidwell, amongst others. An intimate series of evening events, the ‘In Conversation With’ series tackles every-day topics that affect our wellbeing, including: ‘How to Find Your Inner Joy’ with Laura Jane Williams, ‘How to be a Dad’ with Dr Oscar Duke and ‘You’re Not Mad You’re Menopausal’ with Dr Louise Newson, plus there is a  FREE ‘Money Matters’ evening with Emilie Bellet of Vestpod and a host of experts. There is also advice on how to manage grief with ‘Good Grief’ author Dipti Tait, as well as an incredible career wellbeing strand on ‘Working in Wellness’ with Sarah Greenidge, Fab Giovanetti and Sara Milne Rowe.

The exclusive Yellow Kite Author Series at No.131 brings together a range of the UK’s best lifestyle, wellbeing and mindfulness authors in a series of events, exploring their works and sharing lively conversation on how to live life well. Hear from Jonathan Hoban about ‘Walking Therapy’ – how to switch off and find calm every day, Kimberley Wilson, on ‘How to Have a Healthy Brain’, and Buddhist monk and meditation expert to the stars, Gelong Thubten, for an hour of meditation exploration including a live meditation session.

And now onto the important bit – the food! Expect inspirational breakfast and brunch events from The Find, Woodkraft, 131, FLUID and Cheltenham Yoga & Pilates, plus afternoon tea with the authors, as well as incredible pop-up supper clubs and organic and sustainable dining with Russell James the Raw Chef, The Coconut Tree, The House at 131, The Curry Corner and The Find.
