Twisting Spirits

Muddy says: We love this original, bespoke gin from the heart of Gloucestershire. It’s gonna be a good Christmas!

Launched in 2017, Twisting Spirits create amazing and distinctive craft gins, distilling, filling and labelling each and every bottle by hand. So far, so typically artisan you may say, but these guys are different, using a hot and cold dual distillation technique to deliver a massive burst of flavour.

To keep the science bit brief, the alcohol and ten botanicals are slowly distilled in a traditional copper pot, fusing the oils and tastes together creating a high strength gin, which is then diluted with pure water to a much more drinkable 41.5% where the flavours and aromas are perfectly expressed. Meanwhile, the lighter speciality botanicals are cold distilled to preserve the delicate tastes and aromas. Finally the two distillations are twisted together to produce the finished gin – perfectly balanced and bursting with fresh aromas and taste. Phew! Did you get all that?

Check out their current range of three premium gins: Douglas-Fir, Kaffir Lime and Lemongrass and Earl Grey Gin. Kaffir Lime & Lemongrass is exotic, fragrant and aromatic, perfect for a hot summers day. Douglas Fir Gin is a curious little number – imagine sitting in a pine forest with the scent of freshly mown grass blowing in from the distance on a bright sunny day. You’re eating a grapefruit salad with a splash of lemon zest for lunch, helping it down with a Gin and Tonic. Earl Grey Gin is traditionally distilled gin meeting the finest Earl Grey Tea leaves sourced from a tea specialist. The leaves are then cold distilled to preserve the delicate crisp bergamot citrus, floral hints and delicious earthy high tea flavours!

Well, all I can say is, where’s the Fever Tree?
