Lords of the Manor

Muddy says: Fancy a stay in luxury in the heart of the Cotswolds? Then take a look at the gorgeous Lords of the Manor

Tucked away in the heart of Upper Slaughter, amongst the rolling hills and gorgeous rural beauty of the Cotswolds, is the delightful Lords of the Manor, one of the Cotswolds’ truly luxury hotels. Fancy a romantic getaway a deux? A celebration for a special occasion? This is the place for you.

The perfect base to explore the towns and villages of the north Cotswolds, it’s dog friendly (they are The Good Hotel Guide’s Best Dog-Friendly Hotel 2019), is bang slap in the middle of ramblers’ heaven, and is great for lounging on the lawn in summer or curling up by the fire in winter.

Rooms are bright yet traditional, with four poster beds and roll top baths – the feel of a real county home – and for the foodies amongst you (yep, that’s me), it’s a goodie. Choose Atrium at Lords of the Manor and enjoy a tasting menu from Head Chef, Charles Smith. This is definitely cutting edge of cuisine and, with just 14 covers, it’s one of the most sought after dining bookings in Glos.

Looking out over a walled garden, The Dining Room is the perfect complement to Atrium at Lords of the Manor, with a relaxed à la carte menu as well as lighter options. Sunday lunch here is impressive, and they do a pretty special afternoon tea, too.

And for doggie lovers you’ll be in doggie-walk heaven. They even offer a ‘Lordly Dog’ package, which includes Bob and Lush foods, VIP treats and a special bed to make a dog’s stay as comfortable as any other guests.

Getting hitched? As a quintessential Country House hotel wrapped in the cosiness of the Cotswolds countryside, Lords of the Manor is one of the most highly sought-after Cotswolds wedding venues. It caters for weddings from 2 to 60 guests in the Hotel Restaurant or up to 90 in the Conservatory. They can also accommodate up to 150 guests in a marquee in the grounds. Eight acres of private gardens and impressive lawns are set against the backdrop of a historic honey-coloured manor house, making Lords a naturally splendid gathering point for any special occasion.
