We're heading full steam in to the next round of schools' Open Days. Get your diaries out and sign up - and make sure you read our Muddy reviews to get the inside scoop before you go.

Canford School, Wimborne, Sat 21 April

For co-ed boarding age 13-18, Canford is seriously impressive. Set in a gorgeous castle designed by Charles Barry, enveloped in acres and acres of immaculate parkland, the River Stour at your doorstep… and the education is pretty affecting too. Check it out for yourself at their open day on 21 April, or wait for our review… Muddy is visiting the school in a few weeks so watch this space!

Clayesmore School, Iwerne Minster, Sat 12 May

Nursery, Pre-Prep, Prep, Senior School – at Clayesmore their philosophy takes into account the long game. Co-ed, ages 3-18 in the most to-die-for surroundings, Clayesmore is a school with a real family feel. No wonder it is so popular! Warminster School, Warminster, Sat 28 April

We heartily recommend you check out this co-ed, all-through day and boarding school on the edge of Salisbury Plain that prides itself on nurturing happy, confident and community-spirited pupils. Their Open Day is on 28 April – make sure you read our fab Muddy review of the Senior School before you go. Our review of the Prep is imminent, so don’t go anywhere!

Knighton House School, Blandford, Wed 2 May and Wed 13 June

Rising proud above the river Stour and the gorgeous village of Durweston, Knighton House is a haven for girls aged 7-13 (day and boarding) with a Pre-Prep for boys and girls aged 3-7. On our recent visit we clocked its wonderfully cosy feel, while reaching for the stars – check it out for yourself at their open days on 2 May and 13 June, and read our review here.

Leehurst Swan School, Salisbury, Open Evening Tue 1 May

A co-ed day school for pupils aged four to 16, Leehurst Swan is seamless educational proposition which places as much emphasis on academic rigour as it does on laughter. Read the Muddy review here and book for the Open Evening on 1 May, 4.15-6.15pm.

Port Regis, Shaftesbury, Dorset, Sat 5 May

Whopping facilities, modern Swallows and Amazons-style schooling and loads of outdoor fun are all part of the package at this co-ed day and boarding school for ages two to 13. Be prepared to be wowed by walled gardens, forests and a golf course (yes!). Their next Open Day is 5 May, 9.30-11.30am. Here’s the Muddy review.

Chafyn Grove, Salisbury, Sat 12 May 

A co-ed, non-selective day and boarding school for ages four to 13 on the outskirts of Salisbury, Chafyn Grove is poised between town and country, giving kids the best of both worlds – along with top-notch academic results and pristine sports facilities. Their next Open Morning is on 12 May 10am-12.30pm but no need to wait – you can read the Muddy review here!

Rendcomb College, Cirencester, Senior School Open Morning, Sat 28 April, Junior School Open Morning, Fri 11 May
Rendcomb College has a gorgeously small and outdoorsy prep, followed by a whoppingly impressive Senior School. Read our reviews of the Junior School and Senior School first and then find out for yourself at their Open Mornings on 28 April, 9am-12pm, Years 7-13, and 11 May, 10am-12pm, Nursery – Year 6. The theme is Welcome to the Jungle – these guys know how to spice up an open day! Book here. Also, prospective families are welcome to come to their theatre productions this term – choose from Pirates of the Curry Bean (Year 3-6 Prep production) on 17-18 May and/or Our Day Out (Year 7-10 production) on 28-29 June.

Wycliffe College, Stonehouse, Sat 12 May
Set in 60 beautiful acres, Wycliffe College on the outskirts of Stonehouse is a day and boarding, co-educational prep and senior school , catering for children aged two (there’s also a nursery) to 18. “Pupils are unassumingly confident, self-aware and emotionally mature,” says their most recent Independent Schools Inspectorate and the school is proud of its pastoral care shaping ‘bold and loyal’ young people.
