Quirky homeware

Our pick of the best pieces at new online home decor store Layered Lounge, bringing colour and joy to your home.

Hello sunshine, what kind of time do you call this? Been dawdling? Now it’s finally warm enough to reveal the Muddy pedicure (bit chipped tbh) and wear something other than fifty shades of grey, I’ve realised my home and garden could also with a spot of brightening up for summer, and I’m seriously coveting the sunshiney colour-pop interiors pieces at brand new online store Layered Lounge.

Created by ex-City banker Suzy Humphreys and Lou McGuire, who previously worked in the hotel industry and recruitment, Layered Lounge was borne from their shared frustration at not being able to find the perfect finishing touches when they were doing up their own houses (Suzy is in Gerrards Cross, Lou in Beaconsfield).

They’ve plumped for that middle ground between ubiquitous, trend-led high street picks and outrageously expensive designer pieces. The results are quirky, stylish and affordable  – a case in point is this unusual glass lamp base with red flex coiled within, below, that I’m seriously coveting (it also comes in blue, pink or gold btw).

So if you’re bored to the back teeth of polite Farrow & Ball blandness, you’re in luck. Here are a few of my favourite things from the current collection to kick you off, but you can check out the collection here.

Gin balloon glasses, 2 for £26, chevron cushions, £85, and doesn’t everyone need a watermelon pingpong set, £31?

Watercolour cushions, £80; yellow and white dry-fast towel, £39.95; Toucan inflatable £56
