Superflashy newsflash

Break out the elasticated trousers, there’s some new feasting opportunities afoot at three of our favourite foodie establishments!

This is the summer that just keeps giving – not only have we got the kind of weather we usually have to migrate to the Med for, the gastro heights being hit on our island means there’s absolutely no imperative to pop over the Channel. And, hard at work despite the heat, we at Muddy have nosed out some dining treats you definitely need the in on.

Super Scrumptious Afternoon Tea at The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie

Everything in summer is better. Even afternoon tea at The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie. It was already good, but now the chichi Cheltenham eatery is taking its afternoon tea offering to the next level during August, with the addition of The Ivy Nursery Pot, a yummy chocolate mousse, topped with lavender cream and edible flowers. Yes, very Instagrammable, so make sure you snap before you dive in. Served alongside other sweet treats and savoury bites, including truffle chicken brioche rolls and smoked salmon on rye bread with cream cheese and chives, the whole repast is utter perfection. And, methinks, even more perfect if you swap out the tea for champagne. So I’m quite excited to be able to GIVE AWAY a champagne afternoon tea for two! Hurrah! All you need to do is pop over and visit me on Instagram, follow me, like the drool-worthy image of The Ivy Nursery Pot and make a comment. Good luck!

Whatley Manor’s New Summer Feast

Al-fresco dining at Whatley Manor. Don’t mind if I do!

Launched this week, the latest menu to come out of the bucolic country house’s newly revamped, swish Grey’s Brasserie is so drool-worthy you’ll need to block book yourself in because you’re going to want to try everything. And, trust me, none of it disappoints: exquisite Welsh rarebit, pig’s head croquette (don’t be scared, it’s delicious!), the best-ever steak frites, rhubarb and mascarpone millefeuille. Yum, yum, yum, yum!

This making your mouth water? Me too!

New Menus At The Painswick

The oh-so-salubrious dining room at The Painswick

Since head chef Jamie McCallum arrived at The Painswick last August, he has been veeerrry busy – creating new lunch and dinner menus, designing three-course feasting menus, becoming a dad (yes!). And what menus they are. When Muddy tottered over to the bijoux boutique hotel (newly minted in the Hoteliers’ Hotels Top 100 List) to try out the fare, if we’d been wearing socks, they’d have been knocked off. Sea bream carpaccio, rack of Cotswold lamb, strawberry Eton mess – these are just some of the knockout dishes that will send your taste buds into overdrive. Here comes the food porn!
