The Curtain Emporium

Muddy says: moving house? Looking for designer drapes at a fraction of the original price? Come to this beautiful village outside Shipston-on-Stour for nearly-new quality curtains.

How’s it hanging? If the answer is ‘Not so good’ I know a shop that can fix that.  The Curtain Emporium in the pretty hamlet of Shipston-on-Stour has the biggest collection of posh new or newly new curtains in the UK –  over 500 pairs, for 50- 70% less of the original price from brands like Colefax & Fowler, Sanderson, Nina Campbell, Harlequin, Bakers, Clarke and Clarke, Jane Churchill, Villa Nova, Romo and William Morris. Most of the curtains are interlined and handmade; some come with pelmets and tiebacks and should fit most windows.

If you’re moving house and want to sell your own curtains you can do that too – they’ll stay in the shop for 6 months and when they sell you’ll get a cheque for 50% of the sale price minus the VAT.

There, I bet you’re feeling better already.

Having just moved house and with Christmas coming 2 small children and a dog time and money are things I don’t have much of. A girlfriend told me about these people and we popped up to have a look. Well worth the visit and can’t wait to go back for more. The lunch in Stow on the Wold was another good reason for going.

It’s really great, isn’t it? And lunch and a mooch in Stow is always a pleasure!
