Baz Luhrmann's direction of Erdem/H&M's collaboration is luxurious, bonkers and totally gorgeous.
We mentioned the collaboration between Erdem and H&M and few weeks ago when it launched, but I forgot to show you the vid (er, *doh*). It’s prettty rare that I feature videos on Muddy because I only want to point you towards the exceptional or really different – the last one was Kenzo’s crazy-fascinating perfume ad. But with the Christmas advertisements not hitting the spot with most customers, this cinematic collaboration between Erdem and H&M has fascinated me.
For starters it’s eye-wateringly expensive – directed by Baz Lurhmann, it stars Olivier-winning actor Harriet Walter who I LOVE (who can forget her in Pride & Prejudice?), alongside upcoming actors Tom Rhys Harries, Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Ruby Dagnall, with a new track Hypnotised by Years and Years.
Called The Secret Life of Flowers, the four minute film is set in a grand old country mansion home where a quirkily beautiful family enjoy an eternal spring. Like a lot of fashion films it’s half-nonsense, half-compulsory viewing but, love it or hate the film, you can’t fault the clothes!
Plenty of celebs already slathered in the collection – Alexa Chung, Kirsten Dunst, Gala Gonzalez and Kate Bosworth for starters so the film is already working, but what do you think? Colossal waste of money or creative explosion? Let me know in the comment box below!
